CAMARASAURUS.

As its name suggests, (Camarasaurus) comes from camera .... but not the camera taking pictures. It refers to the camera as room as hollow, or internal and covered space. This refers to two bone peculiarities: the vertebrae, though robust, are quite hollow inside, and on the other hand, the skull was square and its huge nostrilsgiving the sense of having a very hollow or empty skull.

But what was a Camarasaurus?

It was a herbivore, a great vegetarian 18 meters long and 18 tons. It was a long sauropod like Diplodocus or Argentinosaurus. It was not as big as them, even for a sauropod, had a rather short neck and tail. However, the body was very strong, so experts estimate that could reach 18 tons.
It lived 150 million years ago in what is now North America.

Another curiosity is that when paleontologists mounted their bones, found a lump of hip bones. It has been speculated about this, and apparently could be that it was another brain, hip, not in the head ... I repeat: another brain in the hip. Finally, another brain or nerve plexus great about it .... still no full consensus.

The other curiosity we can emphasize is the domed shape of its skull. The experts believe that this will served as a sounding board to create a sound effect that could be used to communicate with other Camarasaurus. I imagine a Camarasaurus, warning of the attack by a group of Allosaurus, with a sort of nasal sound, similar to today's large ships when they enter port.

More things:

  • The Camarasaurus could not be applied on its hind legs.
  • Its front legs have claws capable of giving a good blow to their attackers.
  • Analyzed his teeth, thought to eat vegetables harder than Diplodocus.
  • It lived in the Jurassic.
  • To facilitate digestion, it could swallow stones, as is currently done some birds and other herbivores.

Dreadnoughtus.

We found another giant dino in Argentia. A country where we found a large dinosaurs such as Argentinosaurus, Giganotosaurus, the Tyrannotitán or Madtsodia Bai, all with records in size and can be many sauropods, theropods, or the serpent, the world's largest.

The name of the great saurian, a large sauropod and what some call "the king of the dinosaurs," has been named to Dreadnoughtus, which could translate as "he who fears nothing."

Maybe call it "the king of the dinosaurs" is a bit exaggerated. Mostly because if there was a king, this could be the Argentinosaurus, a saurian also found in Patagonia Argentina but measuring up to 35 meters in length; this is about 8 meters more than Dreadnoughtus measuring 26 meters. We must clarify that the measures that have been extracted from fossils found, and it seems, could be a copy would not be fully developed, so it can even be bigger or heavier.

If we compare the weights, Dreadnoughtus reaches 65 tons. And the Argentinosaurus perfectly exceeded 100 tons, some estimates put it at 130 tonnes.

Dreadnoughtus What do we know?

First of all note a curiosity, the name refers to one of the battleships armed Argentina: monocaliber battleships. But do not mix ....

What is striking is that this prehistoric animal were recently discovered, and not one or two bones as usual, but much of the skeleton. It has been found 70% of the skeleton, also in very good condition and its deformation (by the weight of the earth) is minimal. In fact, it has provided new information about the pelvis, extremities and shoulder girdle of Titanosauria family. A family that owned the Dreadnoughtus but also Diplodocus, Giraffatitan or Argentinosaurus.

They were large herbivores that dominated the earth, like all sauropods. Elongated necks and stylized whiplike tails. A highlight feature of this lizard, was that its neck was compared with other sauropods, a bit thicker and more muscular.

The great saurian lived in the forests of what is now South America 75 million years (Cretaceous) ago.

Supersaurus.

Supersaurus (SUPER-LIZARD). An ambitious name of a sauropod that could be the greatest who ever lived on Earth. Perhaps some rushed in to put that name ... I mean: The sauropods were the largest dinosaurs that ever lived. Within this group, for example, we find the famous sauropods such as Diplodocus (103 feet long), Argentinosaurus (131 ft) and Amphicoelias fragillimus (up to 155 feet, if its existence is confirmed). So if this sauropod called "SUPER" understand that is bigger than these three ... right? Well the answer is NO, is smaller, measuring up to 100 ft at best, like a Diplodocus.

But, when they found the first fossils seemed that these prehistoric animals could measure some more. Initially estimated 42 meters. And had to give them a name.

Finally, little more can be said of Supersaurus only who like all sauropods, had a small head, a long neck and a long tail. Could weigh 40 tons, and was a vegetarian. Imagine how much they should eat grass.

This prehistoric animal lived in the Jurassic in what is now North America.
